Instead of connecting T1/E1 circuits directly to a PC server with T1 interface cards, the T1/E1 circuits are connected to the fonebridge. The fonebridge2 then connects to one or more Asterisk Services over Ethernet using the Asterisk TDMoE protocol. Provides for quick failover and load balancing capabilities when deployed in Asterisk clusters.
When combined with Linux-HA software the fonebridge can provide quick and transparent failover capability and high-availability on an Asterisk cluster.
