Hobbit is fork of the Big Brother Network monitor.

Adding new test to Hobbit is fairly easy and the ability to have the remote systems send status back to a central monitoring server can be useful if the remote system is behind a firewall and there is no direct SNMP access to it.

As of November 8, 2008, the project name changed from Hobbit to Xymon.
